In these sections of walden he is trying to explain that people don't need big fancy houses or 200 dollar suit coats which only make you be some who you aren't. When you get fancy clothes but you don't want to where them all the time you are only trying to hide who you are. You aren't letting other people see you for who you are. Clothes are just a way to cover up who you are. When he talks about shelter he compares what people have to the wigwams of the Native Americans. People think that having a bigger house helps them but they only are hurting themselves. They have to work for a long time before they can pay off the house so that they own it not the bank. You can build your own house for cheaper and make it exactly how you want it. People only think about not working to gain there own things. They only want to buy them and not work to earn what they have.
