Over the past few day we have been working on Haiku. I have learned a lot about haiku, from the basics to how to pick a subject. I learned that haiku does not have to be in a 5-7-5 sequence which makes it easier to write, so that you are not sitting on your couch and counting syllables on your fingers. I also learned that haiku is best when it is written about something that has been around for a long time, such as a stone wall or a bench that is old. I also learned that when you are writing a haiku you want to make it sound good and when you read it you should say ahhhh. Which we learned is the ahhh ku moment. Lastly we learned that when you are writing haiku you dont have to make everyone good only a few will be that way. I enjoyed the unit and hope that we can spend more tim on poetry.
